I have an old Sho-Bud volume pedal that came with my Sho-Bud Pro II. It still works and there is no static or sound problem when I raise and lower the pedal. The problem I am having is that it is very difficult to push the pedal up and down to raise and lower the volume. Does that mean the pot is starting to wear out or seize up?
I believe it contains the original pot. I have had this pedal for over 40 years but switched to my Goodrich volume pedal way back. The only work I ever did on the Sho-Bud pedal was replacing the cord attached to the Pot that raises and lowers the volume. It worked fine for about 4 years after that and then became very sluggish.
If you suggest I need to buy a new pot, what kind (please be specific) and where can I buy one ? Thanks for any tips. |

try some lube on the axle, and i think it is possible to loosen up the axle on those pedals. |

I have been at this for some 50 years. I have never had any LONG TERM success trying to repair a volume pot.
Even though they are a little pricey these days, you will save yourself a lot of grief by just replacing the pot.
If it has the original pot, I would say to replace the pot and the string.
I can sell you one or there are many people on here selling pots.
The one that I find the best out there right now is one that Tom Bradshaw had designed. Some call it a Dunlop pot, but it is not made by Dunlop.
Let me know if I can be of service.
I include new string with every volume pot and installation instruction.

Thanks for the replies. I tried the lubrication and it seems to work fine right now. |
