I'M CURRENTLY USING DUNLOP 0.20 PICKS. IS THAT ABOUT AS CLOSE TO THE OLD JEFF NEWMAN DIAMON D AS I CAN GET TODAY? |

There's premium priced copies of the prewar Nationals made by Showcase 41, Hoffmeyer, Yates etc
But best to start w/brass (easiest) or nickel silver (not stainless) NP2's and shaping the blade by pressing a 8mm hex wrench wrapped in duct tape into the back of the blade on a soft (carpeted) surface _________________ - keyless Sonny Jenkins laps stay in tune forever!; Carter PSG

The "rub" on JF vs NP2 seems to be the blade shape. Im thinking of making a die for the blade bend. Fran told me "she" bent every one sold by hand. I have some new ones to go by,but not so sure they are all the same through the years. I also noticed NP2s went up to 16 bucks for 2 pair. _________________ Dick Lotspeich |

I shape the NP2s using round-nosed pliers.
Patience required, but a good result. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

Yes, really useful for lots of things, get these at craft/hobby/fabric stores or jewelers supply stores, wrap in duct tape /vinyl tubing:

I
The best way I have found after fixing many sets is, smooth edges an curl wrappers out slightly, Then a drill bit slightly smaller than your index finger and a small ballpein hammer. By pecking the wrappers and moving it around the drill bit you can make a smooth contour with no catching sharp bends. My Right middle finger has damage and bends toward my index finger, If the wrappers have sharp bends the pick catch on each other and pulls 1 of them off.
That piece inside my thumb pick is a little piece of 3M stair safety tape, I have been using it for years and no thumb pick slip. |

Clark: no, they're called Little Roy's Own, they look different from vintage Nationals, if you do a Control-F on this page for "banjo pick" that's them
