If you had the Franklin Pedal at the 0 position with the Emmons setup, what would you change it to? |

I don't have, have never had, the Franklin pedal, so I don't know whether it would be better to have it than my 0 pedal, but I do like my 0 pedal: 6th string G# raise to A#.

I would leave it in the zero pedal position _________________ I thought Nashville was the roughest, but I know I’ve said the same about them all.

What I meant was if you replaced the Franklin change, what change would you put on it and stay at the 0 position. |

I use my 0 to lower 5 a half and 6 a whole. Gives me a 2 chord dom. 9.. can also be used for a 4 open to 5 dom. 9. Strings 6-3 give a 1,3,b7, and 9 (2 frets up). I like having them on adjacent strings. Easy to try if you have the Franklin..just adjust your 5th string pull..
Example: 5th fret open A, 0 pedal gives D9 on strings 6-3 (intervals 1,3,b7 and 9). |

That's exactly what I have for my 0 pedal. It can be used with or without the A pedal for 7th chords, like Tonight The Bottle Let Me Down. It's very handy for major 7 chords in Uni-12.
It also raises my string 10 G# to A#. |

My 0 pedal has always been a project pedal looking for a purpose and I finally think I've found something that works really well for me. On my U-12 it raises 12th string B > C# making that a usable tone on the (0+) A + F lever chord inversion (thank you Rick Schmidt!) but the newest ¡eureka! was that it now also raises 7th string F# > G# making the (0+) A + F inversion strummable. If big chordal strums is not something you tend to do, this won't have much value but now, also with a lever that lowers 7th string to E, I have big strums on all three triad inversions. |

At one time my 0 pedal lowered both G#s to G, giving an Em, (or with the A pedal) C#dim or A7 without the root note, at the nut.
However, in defence of the FP at 0, you can do 2 octaves of the AB pedal scale, with a 10 string guitar.

1. B to Bb. In conjunction with the A pedals, to can play C#min, C#mmaj7, C#min7, c#min6.
2. Good place for G# to Gnat.
3. Just the G# to F# part of the FP.

Roy it would be helpful for us to know what configuration your Steel is?
D10, S10, U12? Do you already lower your B's to Bb?
Since you have 3 pulls, you can raise strings 1 and 2 to be in unision with string 3 and 4, and also lower string 6 from G# to F#.
Another possibility, You could also lower your G#'s to G.
That string 6 whole tone raise gives you the Cth style Pedal-7 change when combined with the A pedal (with E's lowered).
You could also raise string 6 to B, in unision with string 5.
Some guys raise string 7 (and string 1) to G or G#.
There are alot of possibilities
The other thing is, you can put a lever on that cross rod and use that change as a second Left Knee Left towards the front of your Steel (you can make one out of wood, or use a pair of vice grips or a small monkey wrench just to quickly test out that idea). |

I have a SD10 LKL RAISE E, LKR LOWER E, LKV B TO Bb.
RKL 1 string F# to G/G#; 2 string D# to E; 7 string F# to G#
RKR 2 string D# to D/C#; 8 string D to C#
O pedal lowers 5,6 and 10 one full tone. |

Hey Roy, I do the Tom Brumley thing which is raising the 7th string F# to G#. What it gives you is basically the same sound as you get when you depress the B pedal and rock on the A pedal bringing the II to a III.... With this change you can play a nice version of "last Date" with only that pedal and the E to Eb lever..... With the Es lowered the F# is the V note of the B chord so this pedal would raise the V to a VI......... On my steel I also lower string 3 G# to G for some Mooney things I do.... Here's a copy of my setup to check out of you'd like..........JH in Va.
