Does anyone know who the steel player is on Hank Snow’s instrumental version of Bye Bye Blues? Maybe Kayton Roberts?
I’ve been having fun learning this song for a while, but only today came across this version.

Very nice - thanks for sharing! I put it on my list of songs to learn. Could be Kayton but I don't hear his usual trademark licks like the doo-wah or low bass note. |

Can't find the disc anywhere. Checked allmusic and discogs but no real info on that recording.
I believe Kayton started with Hank somewhere in the mid to late 60s and was with him til Hank passed.
I love Katyon's playing but I really don't know enough to offer an opinion whether he's on this recording or not. |

Maybe Joe Talbot. He played for Hank long before Kayton in the early days. It's not Kayton that's for sure. _________________ Canopus d-8

Joe Talbot - he and Bill Pruitt (my teacher) were good friends and as a result of that I got to hang around with those old guys (I was 10 or 12) - anyway that sounds to me more like Joe than Kayton. I am sure it is not Kayton. _________________ Joe Naylor, Avondale, AZ (Phoenix) Announcer/Emcee owner www.steelseat.com *** OFFERING SEATS AND Effects cases with or without legs and other stuff ****** -Desert Rose Guitar S-10, Life Member of the Arizona Carport Pickers Assoc., Southwest Steel Guitar Assoc., Texas Steel Guitar Assoc., GA Steel Guitar Assoc., KS Steel Guitar Assoc. I agree with everyone else thats definitely gotta be Joe Talbot. It sounds a lot like his smooth Hawaiian style like how the steel sounds in "I'm Movin On". |

Thanks for your posts. I think I’ll listen to some more Hank Snow from this era. |
