D-10 8 x 4 semi gloss rosewood. Sat in a farm house for 45 years.
Bought this guitar at the Phoenix show. Lynn took it home to go over it for me. What amazing work he does. He took the underside completely apart and cleaned it, added some of his unique touches to it and changed it to my setup. It looks like new and plays equally to a modern guitar. The sound is magnificent.
Thanks Lynn for making this guitar better than I ever dreamed it could be.

Yep, Lynn’s one of the great steel guitar techs. He just required my Legrande and it sounds so much better. Enjoy your push-pull! |

I've owned a Lynn Stafford guitar, and the attention to detail and making things right is just amazing. Unless you've actually tried to work on one of these Push/Pulls, it's really difficult to understand how good his work is.
That underneath view speaks volumes... I'd bet those rods are within an 1/8" of an inch or less of being perfectly parallel and aligned with the changer fingers.. That stuff matters.. a lot.
Beautiful work Lynn! |

Like Bill, I have owned a Lynn guitar. He is master for sure, and he has been so helpful and supportive of me in my meager efforts in learning to work on push-pulls. I have studied his work and have learned so much from him.
Thanks to Lynn and guys like him, the Emmons push-pull is the "Energizer Bunny" of the steel guitar world! _________________ Tommy Detamore

Looks like fantastic work!
Out of curiosity: what does the long spring do, that looks connected to the pedal 4 shaft? The one screwed into the wood under c6 neck. Some kind of helper spring?

Sveinung,
Wayne raises C6 strings 4 and 8 to A# with pedal 7. I installed a tension spring as a temporary measure to give a bit more resistance to the pedal, since it felt very light to me. I'll probably come up with a better solution later on. Time was short at the moment, so I just hooked a spring between the lower portion of a bell crank and a pedal cross bar for now. _________________ Best regards,

I'm another proud owner of a Lynn Stafford PP. He's an absolute wizard at what he does and I want to thank him every time I sit down to play it.

Good thread, and I think there are far worse album titles than, "Farm-House Emmons". (If that ain't country . . . )
An interesting thing about push-pull techs is the very different roads up the mountain. As examples, big oil and big springs versus minimizing or avoiding those things. Choices.
I'm agnostic about (and very open to the rationales of) much of that stuff, and Lynn's/Wayne's undercarriage there looks mighty, mighty clean. (From the touches of red, maybe Lynn likes the lube favored also by some of the fly-reel guys.)
Re: using a spring to stiffen a pedal, someone (and I wish I could recall who) called that a "hurter spring". |

Don’t forget, Lynn works his magic on a lot of steels, not only Push Pulls.
He set up my Zum beyond perfection. Really precise.
Thanks Lynn! |

Lynn Stafford is as nice a person as you will ever know. I was totally surprised when he said my guitar was finished so come get it. With his health issue just surfacing I didn't have any problem waiting for however long it would take. He wound up taking the entire under carriage out, cleaning it in carburetor cleaner, reassembling it while adding a few new parts specific to my copedent and adjusting it to play as good as my new MSA and my Zum.
I can't keep my hands of that guitar it sounds so good. Emmons #1924 D sings like bird. |

Congratulations, Wayne. My main gigging axe is a close sister to yours - #1920 D - also rosewood. It's been a very reliable, good sounding steel. No doubt yours will be too !

Can’t say enough about Lynn’s work. He treats every Push Pull as if it were his own guitar. Lynn is an asset to everything push pull and he’s one heck of a nice guy. Slim _________________ S12 MSA Classic Nashville 400 with fox mods amp 1 volume pedal 1 Lil Izzy and 3 cords |
