I usually try and work out of a harmonized scale based on the key of the song. That scale usually contains the chords of the song(I,IV,V, IIm...etc). Moving around and trying to land on the right chord at the right time. |

another exercise, study strings 8 + 5 intervals. Literally pretty much anything you may need to find in a hurry lies in those intervals. Natural motes, E raise, E Lower, A ped raise, V lever lower. Move the bar forward or back a fret or so, etc...
