Has anyone try building the 60 watt Mod tube amp kit?and is the amp powerful? Thinking of building it, post your experiences, and open to other kits too.

i've read that some people didn't like it due to the noise, but, i really don't remember where i read that. you may want to google "problems with mod kit." i know that amplified parts just had a sale on some of their kits but don't know if it is still on.

i've completed three 58 deluxe 5e3 clones, some with mods. the only one that was a kit was the tubedepot kit that was very well documented and i would recommend it. note that it is only about 18 watts but they do have higher wattage kits.

i've also read about hoffman amp kits that a lot of people like so you may want to check them out.

the tele forum has amp discussions and even a separate subforum about amp building.
here is the link to the subforum.

I am pretty partial to the Allen Amplification line of tube kits. They have super low noise level, quality parts and precision crafted chassis and unique and useful circuitry. I've built two of them. See my reviews below:

Thanks Greg, I checked out the Allen amps, they have one with a 115, I am considering that amp, it comes with a blonde tolex covering, just curious of weight I will check it out also, I have electronics experience working in that field to be able to get it together,I like the 112 also, but the 115 would give me a better frequency response for my steel.

I don't have any experience with the Mod kits, but I did build a DR with a Weber kit. I would source the parts myself in the future, like my first build, a "Twin" clone. Using a Weber chassis.

Hello Bill, I like the amp cabinet you have what color is it? Is it similar to a fender cabinet, do you have pictures? Does it have reverb?
