I got this guitar few days back, and it was in pretty bad shape, somebody painted it black with a spray paint or paint brush or something...
I bought bunch a sand paper, paint scraper and power sender, and got to work
front had to go as well, but BUT š Iām going to have our forumite and my dear friend David Ball do some awesome MOP inlay
guitar will then be finished in natural finish _________________ www.steelguitarsonline.com

and for the end, this beauty will get a brand new split cases hand made by Mr. Hatton
I have to tell you, this is going to be one amazing sounding guitar, cabinet is dry and light as a paper, it actually vibrates and resonates if you hit it... as well as all the other parts, especially aluminum necks, those ring like a church bell if you touch it with a screw driver... I just have that feeling in my gut, this is going to be a tone monster...š more pix to come... _________________ www.steelguitarsonline.com |

I often wonder why this factor doesn't get more attention. It must play a big part in the overall sound of the steel. Maybe this one will be the "ES-335" of Sho-Buds. You can't get "black tone" in a spray can. |

BE very careful with these guys as they are used to plating bumpers... Steel guitar parts can easily be damaged for good if someone doesn't know what these are suppose to look like . They need to be extremely gentle with your stuff. I would explaining that to the polisher himself if these were my parts. Not saying they won't do you a good job but I would proceed with extreme caution as you get one shot as this.
Other builders please chime in or anyone else that has used Advanced... I need a polisher too _________________ I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you

āAdvanced Platingā is actually a parent company of the newly formed ā Advanced Music Productsā company ... while dropping off my parts I spoke to Jerremy , and he was very familiar with Sho Bud and steel guitar in general, I donāt have any doubts they will do a great job. _________________ www.steelguitarsonline.com |

Mike if a person was set up to buff would it be the End of the world to do it yourself I do all my own buffing which is not a lot. Small good variable speed buffer with Ten inch buffing Wheels is what I use. The castings on a old Sho-Bud is still going to have the pits that u canāt buff away. The only reason I would not buff my parts would be to help someone who needed to make Kroger money. |
I could do that but it a dirty job I don't care to do it or have space to do either. I guess I was spoiled with Bud's high quality, experience, and price. 75ea for end plates seems very expensive to me. _________________ I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you

Yes Damir and for the price they charge your parts should be nothing less than 1000% perfect _________________ I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you

yup, I just picked up my parts today, they are all professionally wrapped, and I don't want to unwrap it until I'm ready to install it on the guitar, they just unwrapped a small portion of the endplate, and what a bling, it is a mirror like finish, I have never seen shinier Sho Bud end plate in my life... _________________ www.steelguitarsonline.com |

thank you my friend, it is a very interesting project for me, but it is time consuming, and it will take some time to have this finished... but I will post a picture or two of every step I go through, until guitar is finished...I decided to cover cabinet in as little stuff as possible, so I decided to go with just a natural lacquer finish, I'm not going to kill the tone of this beauty with sprayed layers of plastic... also idea is not to tighten the necks all the way down, but let them "breath" and vibrate ... at least that is how I feel... cabinet, and necks resonate and "sing" , they are not just a "dead" parts, I have a very good feeling about this one, I think it is going to be one beautiful guitar, with the tone to die for _________________ www.steelguitarsonline.com |
