As a proud owner of the MSA SS model, i had to do lots of research to figure out what I was going to do to replace the tuning keys with what model of Grover. I also wanted to fix the problem where the normal buttons have very little clearance between each other as they use the normal size keys on the short key head, clash was common if misaligned and fingers did not fit in between when tuning, (this was not an issue on regular MSA's just the SS because of the short keyhead).....If you have the same problem here’s what you can do.

I used the Grover 102C, which was probably standard at that time, they now come in 18x1 ratio which makes them ultra smooth for fine tuning over standard ratio. You have to buy 2 sets of 3 per side ala Les Paul style Grovers.

You then have to shave the ear off with a dremel tool to make them fit as per factory.

I then did some measurements with the original buttons, i then measured up the keystone buttons and found them to be slimmer in width. I bought 12 keystone buttons (2 six packs). I could not get the 102C with the 18X1 ratio with keystone buttons so this is the road i took, look at that clearance between each button now and love that smooth 18x ratio
