I would like to change my LKR knee lever, (which is F# to G on the 1st and 7th string now)to the B to Bb change on strings 5 and 10.
I have moved the rods and necessary hardware in the linkage, but when I try to tune the knee lever, I cant get to Bb or A#. It will start lowering the B note but will not go to Bb. The A# will come up on my tuner but will not lower to the A# (Bb) at 440. If I keep turning the tuning nut, it goes back to the B on the tuner.(Boss TU12EX Chromatic). Not sure what I am doing wrong.
I had planned on putting this change on a vertical knee but I can't seem to find the kit or necessary hardware to install one.
I appreciate any help I can get. I have never had a problem changing knee levers around before. I'm stumped. |

Have you tried adjusting the stop on the knee lever? It may just need more travel to reach the Bb. |

can you show a picture of the undercarriage? depending on the bell cranks, you may have to move a hole or two. as bob stated, you could also adjust the stop so that the lever travels farther. a combination of both might be necessary depending on which system your guitar has. |

Here are two pictures of the undercarriage. Yes, I did try changing the throw of the lever. |

Sounds like it may also be an issue with the return spring or raise assist spring tension. _________________ James Collett |

Most likely as Bob stated. I would look at the travel on the knee first, your stop adjustment may need moved a bit to accommodate the change. _________________ Sierra Crown D-10 |

yes, start with the stop and adjust the travel. if it seems to travel too far for comfort to achieve the change, then you'll have to unhook the rods and change which hole on the bell crank they hook into. here's the carter site that describes the relationship between travel, feel and the bell crank and finger holes.

Thank you everyone for the replies. I contacted the "Sho Bud Guru" Ricky Davis and he helped me figure it out.
It is the raise return springs.
Thanks again! |
