For anybody interested, I got a nice Amp on Craigs List this weekend.
Went on and found this one. A brand I'd never heard of before.
It is called a "SWR Strawberry Blond" and it has terrific tone and real good volume for a small amp.
Best of all it was just $170.00 with every option I'd want..... Very Happy
Has a port that makes it real strong on Bass as well as all the high ranges and stays clean even turned up high.
About the same size as my Nashville 112, but better sounding in my opinion.

I also found a nice little Danelectro which will be perfect for my lap steel for just $60.00... I'll post that on the "Steel Without Pedals Page".

Nice amp. Fender bought this company a few years back. I've seen a lot of respected acoustic players use these.

I was not too sure until I played through it.
Thought it may be just for low impedance pickups, but now I've played it with a Fender Jazz Bass, my Korean D'Angellico electric 6 string guitar as well as my Clinesmith lap steel and Mullen G2 and they all sound great.
Like it well enough that I may sell my Peavey Nashville 112.

Playing a Bass through it is amazing. It has all the deep tone you could want.
Has a port about 1" tall all along the bottom edge. Put my fingers in and see it goes back so will take the back off later to see what the design is of that port.
It is a little deeper front to back that the Peavey, so I'd guess that and the port are responsible for the good bass response.

From what I have seen all those SWR amps are pretty darn good. I plugged in to one of their low end bass amps with a 10" speaker several years ago and was mightily impressed at how lively the sound was.

You snagged a good one Andy. Cool looking with that cream and red combo. I've seen some in basic black in Beijing but never tried one. Is the speaker 12"? What is the weight, Andy? Stevet

Not that I am a respected acoustic player, but I was very disappointed with the sound of my Takamine through this model amp, especially after all the rave reviews I had read about it. Maybe there was something wrong with it. The guitar sounds great through the Roland AC60 I settled on, and my Stage One steel sounds surprisingly good through it too.

Sounds like you are having better luck with it than I did, Andy.

Hi Doug,
Might be the same? This also has a 10" speaker and a small tweeter as well.

I've played through a couple of SWR Red Head bass amps and they're great.

This one has 240 watts.
Not sure if thats why it has such good bottom, but I think it's due to a well ported cabinet.
I'm sure enjoying playing through it.
Got the settings I like for the lap steel, but still trying different combinations for the Mullen PSG.
The only thing a little lacking is the reverb. Not as deep and rich as I'd like, but passable. I was not crazy about the reverb on the Peavey ether.
Maybe it's the older tube reverbs that I like the sound of best.
I don't use reverb with the lap steel, only with the PSG.
Other than that I like everything.
