Forum member Guy Cundell has published a very interesting paper about the use of 7th chord tunings in early steel guitar recordings.

Kudos to Guy for his exhaustive research into the very real history of our instrument. Great work! _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

That's great. His entire Master's thesis "Across the Pacific: The transformation of the steel guitar from Hawaiian folk instrument to popular music mainstay" is available on the same website as well. I have only skimmed through as of yet but it looks very interesting. _________________ https://youtube.com/@steelguitar |

This sounds like an interesting read, but I'm not going to give the site access to my Google contacts just to read it! |

Thanks, Bob and Einar.
The thesis is also available here without signing up to Academia.com. (A fairly benign site)

Sorry, Jim. I don't have my own web page or I would host the conference paper there. If you want, drop me an email and I'll send you a copy. |

Jim, that link is to my thesis, which I hope you enjoy. But b0b refers to a conference paper that I put online yesterday at Academia.com and is much shorter and to the point. So please, feel free to email me. |
