Hello Pickers,

I am posting this to hopefully get to know some of you in the Los Angeles area and offer you my services in the repair of your pedal steel guitar. I have been traveling a lot in the past few years, studying manufacturers along the way, but my stops in the L.A. area were too brief to establish a solid repair home base. But now I have set up a permanent shop at my home in the Signal Hill / Long Beach area.

I have had factory training along with years of experience working on many makes of pedal steels. Some of the brands that I have experience with are:
Carter, Emmons, Fender, MSA, Mullen, Sho-Bud, ZB, Zumsteel, and many more.

I have recently set up an alliance with a local machinist to manufacture new and hard-to-locate parts for older models. This will reduce costs when it comes to adding such items as knee levers, stops and extra raises and lowers to your guitar. However, I always recommend using factory parts whenever available, and can get most any brand available. I have the ability to clean up your guitar and get it playing like new. I can make any adjustment necessary and have many parts on hand to repair and custom fit your steel to your needs. I am very reasonably priced and all my work is guaranteed.

So if you are in the So Cal. area and are in need of Steel Guitar Repair, please call me or e-mail and I will be happy to help you out.

Thank you,
Keeponapicin’
Chris

Hey Chris, how far are you from 1922 Cherry Ave. in Signal Hill? That's where Bonnie Price's Foothill Club was where I played for a good while and Jim Bob Sedgwick of the Formum played for a LOOOOOONG while. Those were the days....JH in Va.

Jerry,
Sorry to say they mowed that place down a short while ago. It was a huge piece of local history. But alas, the owner couldn't keep up with the up-keep. A lot of so cal. pickers did jail time there.

I'd like to endorse Chris as a very savvy technician also he's intuitive on many different brands, he just finished fixing my old Zumsteel and he seems to have a wealth of knowledge about the pedal steel guitar and their various dynamics and functions. I'm taking my new Zum back to him for the 'Franklin' change. Great guy and great service..

Dan,
I would have to see it of course. There is a hitch regarding the machinist I mentioned. He is jobber and wants to do multiples of any cut in order to bring the cost down. If the 1 off item is of a complicated nature it could get expensive. I usually have him cut between 7 and 10 of anything he makes for me, I buy them all and then have 'em in stock.
Call me and we can talk about what you need.

I would also like to endorse Chris' services.. He not only worked on my PSG's when I lived in California, but he was my first steel teacher. He helped me to get going on this lifelong journey.

Thanks alot for all your help Chris!

I just want to say that Chris is very patient, efficient and absolutely "Stands by his work" Not at all bad for a Maryland guy, you should give him a try if you need any steel guitar repairs.

Cheers,
