How does the Katana amp compare to the new Peavey amp? |

Ron: That is a really good explanation on how to set things on the Boss Katana amp. It is definitely going to answer all my questions. I was about to give up on using it, because I couldn't make it sound anything like my Peavey Nashville 112, which I really like a whole lot. Thanks, Tommy..... |

John, I honestly don't know. The people at Roland/Boss has the say in that. _________________ Bob Hempker |

Thx Tommy. I'm a Peavey man so I compare all amps to how close does it come to the Peavey sound all us steel players have loved over time. I know someone is going to say to me, "then just by a peavey".
I have a Peavey but looked for something that doesn't cost 1500 to 3,000.00 as an alternative amp. The Katana does a great job for just $329.00 and even has the good Boss effects built in.

Tommy,
Here's a sample of the Katana the other night. Effects used on the Katana are reverb and delay that are built in.

Has anyone compared the Katana to the Roland cube. As they are the same company just wondered if there was much difference. |

Having the BOSS effects built in to this amp, and being able to have 4 presets that can be toggled using a foot switch, makes this amp a good choice. If you are use to the sound of a 12" speaker, it's a great option. I tried both the 112 and 212 Katana amps side-by-side with my Steel King. They were decent, but I think I'm partial to having the fuller sound from a 15" speaker. If BOSS made a 250 watt version with a 15" speaker in the $450-$550 range, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. _________________ ***Bob*** |

Dennis, you can get a foot switch that will allow tempo tap and to choose the 4 memory banks. |

Robert, I have wondered how it would sound with one of the Emenence 12" steel speakers (toy\franklin). |

Robert,
I hate to spend money on a 12" speaker that may not workout. If I could borrow one for testing, it would be acceptable. Ideas?

Yes, exactly. And the list price on both of those speakers is $210, not cheap! Since you are in the area, maybe check with Steel Guitars of Nashville to see if they have any of those speakers in stock. They have the amps in stock, so maybe they would let you switch out a speaker for testing purpose? _________________ ***Bob*** |

I think that Emenence speaker is 8 Ohm. Won't that make a difference? Thanks, Tommy..... |

I was very impressed with the demo video done at steel guitars of Nashville. When it comes time to buy a new amp, I'm really leaning toward the Boss Katana |

I have recently purchased a boss katana and I like it very much!
I play through this amp at Indianapolis pedal steel guitar show.
I have received several nice compliments on my tone.
Check out the video clips on my Facebook page. |
