Any suggestions/recommendations for tabbing software for PSG? I have used Guitar Pro for several years for regular guitar but GP does not support PSG, Yet!
I can mark up a tab sheet by hand but then I can't read it afterwards. LOL
Thanks for any suggestions
Pickin' in Canada. |

A lot of guys on the Forum use TablEdit, Jeff. You might give their free download a try. I'm still a dinosaur and handwriting everything

I use Tabledit. It makes really nice looking tab. There is a little learning curve when you start using it, but once you have everything set up it is easy to use. |

Hi Marc:
Spoke with Guitar Pro developers and they had NO idea what a Pedal Steel guitar was. They believe it to be a lap steel or Hawaian type of guitar. Tabledit appears to do anything Guitar Pro does but not as pretty. About the same price as GP.
Cheers

That says it all, what a missed change for them not implement this in the latest version of their software.
Guitar pro works very good for Guitar.
But for PSG I, like many other use Tabledit which works fine for PSG but has not the same smooth interface like guitar pro.

As a beta-tester of Guitar Pro, some years ago (in the GP5 era) I tried to convince them to add all the features we would need for making great and easy PSG tabs.
They did appreciate and asked me to provide all the details. I did and everything seemed to be in progress.
Then they "disappeared" for months, and when GP6 was finally released nothing we had been talking about had been included LOL
There died my beta tester "career" for them _________________ Gianni

Just received this via facebook group tabledit.
I have a registered version for years already but if you do not have this, now maybe the moment.
To celebrate TablEdit turning 20, we are taking $1 off the price of TablEdit for each year, for this weekend ONLY! TablEdit's regular price of $59.97 has been reduced to $39.97 for 48 hours! When the weekend is over (Sunday 5/15 12 PM), the reduced price ends, so register TablEdit now and SAVE! |

Mark, how can I get this for the sale price. I tried to order it
and it just comes up at the regular price for $59.95 every time.
I searched the internet for the sale and can't find it anywhere.
Any help would be appreciated................Carl _________________ aka "Lucky Kay"--Custom built Rittenberry SD10 3X5, Walker S/S, NV-112, and Hilton Pedal |

I am already feeling ashamed that I mentioned it here but this is what the news is:
I just filled the form but I'm still asked for $59.97 in Paypal. Does the discount start later?.
TablEdit Tablature Editor ... and for those with alternative definitions of "weekend" we mean Saturday and Sunday.
Amyway, we'll know in a day and a half (CET) |

Going to be this weekend only, apparently. Friday and Saturday.
I was confused, too! |

The discount will start on Saturday 8:00 AM (Paris time) and end Monday 8:00 AM (48 hours).
You have to order during the "PARIS TIME ZONE" I think that's GMT +01:00 _________________ aka "Lucky Kay"--Custom built Rittenberry SD10 3X5, Walker S/S, NV-112, and Hilton Pedal |

I've taken mild stabs at Tab|Edit, but it seemed as much trouble and learning curve as hand assembling tab in QuarkXPress, so I'm sticking with that. Is there a way to play something on steel and have it translated into tab? That's the function I'd love to have. Probably require a midi pickup, eh? _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

John,
I think what you are asking for would be next to impossible.
There are just too many places to get the same note and/or chords on a pedal steel for a program to figure out. |

Hi guys, I just got the TablEdit program and think I might be able to figure it out.
I just can't figure out how to remove the sheet music that's up above the tabs.
All I want to do is make simple tab sheets without anything else added to them.
I'd like to be able to make some simple tabs that I can make for my students.
I never charge for lessons, and like to give more to help them learn faster.
Can anyone help me for making just plain steel tab sheets with nothing else.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I'll second this comment. TE is a great learning assistant and provides a way to create your own reference material. |

File / Options / General - there is a "show notation" box you can check or uncheck. Definitely download the online help manual, so you don't have to connect to it every time. |

Thanks Fred, I downloaded the manual this morning and had
to go thru 127 pages of stuff I didn't understand to find
the pages for the Pedal Steel Guitar info. I made a couple
bars for an intro and it seems to work ok. It'll take this
old man a while to figure it out, but I'll get better.
Thanks for getting me started. _________________ aka "Lucky Kay"--Custom built Rittenberry SD10 3X5, Walker S/S, NV-112, and Hilton Pedal |
