I received this little S10 Excel from the forumite Billy Carr yesterday, it was described as in good condition with only a few scuffs on the pedal bar from the volume pedal...there was no pictures because his camera is broken, so I assumed I will get a nice Excel with a few scuffs on the pedal bar, so when I opened the case this is what was in it

obviously guitar will have to be taken completely apart, stripped, and refinished, fortunately good friend of mine Mike Skaggs offers his help, so I'm sure this guitar will look great, and shine again like new in no time.... I will be posting pictures of this project so everyone interested can follow the progress of restoring this poor abused, and almost completely destroyed guitar....

I believe someone mistook the guitar for a kitchen counter top and tried a refinish job. What the heck is that screwed to back apron? That is pitiful.

Some people have no respect for their instruments.
Trashed a very good guitar by a master builder.

Bottom line the guy is dishonest and should be dealt with accordingly. I have zero tolerance for this kind of thing.

thanks guys, it will be ok, Im confident I can take care of it, and fix it.... it will be fun watching it getting back to where it was originally.... I will have Mikes help too.... we already have some ideas what to do, and how.... I get guitars all the time with dents or scratches here and there, but that's normal with used guitars, this is just little more then a scratch lol...

Damir, love your positive attitude - but please be more careful about buying "a pig in a poke" in the future. Sometimes it's just a bag of rattlesnakes!

That is just sad.
I don't play pedal but I follow your posts because of the gorgeous instruments you put up on the site.
You appear to be a standup guy with a lot of pride in what you do.
I am sure that this guitar will eventually be beautiful, working perfectly and go to a deserving owner that will properly care for it.
You didn't deserve this but I know that guitar has a future.
Best of luck in your endeavors.

This needs to hit Facebook on all the Steel guitar groups to warn people of this thief and expose Billy Carr. This was/is a blatant ripoff and I for one take it personal.

The steel guitar community is small and we as steel players need to take care of one another and not steal from each other.

I am going to rebuild this guitar free of charge for Damir as a symbol of how we all should act and behave. Shame on you Billy Carr, you are a disgrace to the instrument and community and Karma will come around in a big way!

Good on you Mike. Smile

Clearly a mess, but how on earth did it get like this ?

Reckon they were going for the crinkle/hammered finish?

I used to own a real nice Williams D10 that I was told once belonged to Billy. He has bought and sold a lot of guitars here. So disappointing to see this.

I'm sorry this happened to you Damir.
