I have a Fessenden D10 I just got. On my previous stage one, 38 gauge was recommended, but I see alot of string sets come with a 36. Any body have any reccomendations on which gauge to buy? Thanks! _________________ Fessenden D-10 8X5. Nashville 112 w/Fox mod. Regal Black Lightning squareneck w/beard legend cone, ebony bridge and beard spider. |

They're mostly .036" but I like .038"s. When I first started forty+ years ago ZB sets had an .040" 10th. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles and Martins - and, at last, a Gibson Super 400!

They won't play much different. The 38 will pull a bit quicker and sound a little thicker, the 36 pulls quicker and sounds thinner. I prefer a 38,but the difference is slight. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

.38 is the one for me as well - I like the richer tone from it. _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9

The SIT Buddy Emmons gauge sets--available in either nickel or stainless steel wound--have a 38 10th string. |

When I sold my ZB and bought an old Sho-Bud Pro 111 I immediately changed its strings.
Not knowing any better I put on one of my ZB sets - an .040" 10th when the guitar was set up for an .036"! I knew nothing back then and thought I'd bought a lemon and the Sho-Bud was no good. It took a couple of phone calls to find out where I'd gone wrong.
.038"s do it for me too. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles and Martins - and, at last, a Gibson Super 400!
