Looking through some old youtube video this evening I ran across something that really tore me up.
Mike Cass playing 'Home In San Antone'.
Seems every player for the past twenty years tries to copy Paul's tone, attack and technique and that's fine if you're into that but Mike is spot on an Emmon's nut and I LOVE IT!
I'll be doing another CD sometime in the near future in town (my 5th) and I hope Mike is still around and can play on it.
Thanks Mike Cass for all you do...

Plus one. Cass picks. WAY under-recognized.

I really enjoyed listening to it. How does he do that "western swing" lick at 1:12 and 1:13 in the video? I can sorta do it but have to cheat. does it involve chimes? If so, I'm in trouble. Smile Thanks

Mitch

The Twin Cities were fortunate back in the day when both Mike Cass and Russ Pahl were available for lessons at Clem Schmitz' original Emporium in South Minneapolis.

I was one of the fortunate to have taken a few lessons from Mike while at the Pedal Steel Guitar Emporium. I remember him playing a rodeo in cowtown (So. St. Paul) my hometown with the guys in white shirts😉 They ripped Orange Blossom Special!
