I bought this guitar off Ebay. It stated that the guitar had been tested and worked. After receiving it one pickup is not working in any of the switch positions (that neck or both neck position). Has anyone had problems with these? Does anyone know who rewinds these or has replacements.
I like the guitar, but I am considering sending it back. Thanks.

It looks like Lollar makes a replacement pickup for this. It is the model on the Coodercaster, and a bit pricey at $265.00 I am sure it sounds wonderful.

If you like it, and got it at a good price, I'd fix it.
Check on prices for the pickup or having it rewound, and see if the seller will pay for it.

| My experience has been that it's more often the switch than the pickup. Particularly those wafer type switches that Valco often used. Usually you find that one of the tangs just isn't contacting the slider and can bend it in just a little. While you're in there, read the ohms across both pickups (in the individual switch positions with the volume all the way up) to see if they're the same. You may want to take it to a guitar shop if you're not comfortable doing this yourself. |

I sent the whole pick-up and control assembly to Lollar. I wanted to preserve the guitar as best I could.
I talked to them, and they said it might be a simple problem. I could not find any broken wires or etc.
They have a lot of experience with this type pick-up (as they make a copy). That is why I chose them.
The seller did give me a partial refund. I really wanted to keep this guitar.

| I've got a couple lap steels with these pickups...one old original from a'57 Supro and one Lollar repro. You may already know this but there are magnets on both sides of pickups when you take the screws and cover off the top. They can easily be out of phase if they got turned around backwards or upside down from someone putting them back together unknowingly. Even if one magent isn't facing the right way, 3 strings will be in phase and 3 will be out of phase making a very weak, thin and uninspiring tone at best. If you're not getting any output, that sounds more like a wiring or different issue all together. It may also be worth mentioning (although I've never seen this) but 'apparently' some later Supro's had 'faux' magnets actually made out of wood. I hope you figure it out whatever the issue is; they really sound amazing when they are right!! |

I tried all positions for the magnets, but could get no sound at all on that pickup.
