I recently added pull rods to my Rains. I used 3\32 stainless gig welding rods. Threaded with 4-40.You can order nuts from Curtis Hogue at Rains steel guitars. |

When I cut a 4-40 thread on a .093 rod, the thread is a pretty loose 4-40 fit. Now, this may not matter with most nylon tuning nuts, but the proper rod size for cutting a 4-40 thread is .109", or 5/32", as this size gives you a full and very clean thread. |

Chuck, the Rains uses 3/32 rod. I have that material and also have Rains bellcranks if you need to add anything.
