I want to get a steel custom built starting with a 10 string lap steel with an option for inserting legs. I don't really need pedal steel quality legs, do I? They are expensive and heavy. Ideas?
Thanks!

Cut out the middle man, see if you like this lapsteel. Legs are optional.
Thanks

I would suggest a keyboard stand. For the price of legs I have seen, you could buy 3 keyboard stands. I use a keyboard stand with my dobro.

I may, in fact, be nuts. However, I am screwed onto the right bolt... Jesus!

Plus one on this.
That is exactly what I use and for my lap steels it is perfect. Smile

You can get the flanges and legs from Gary Sill at Sill Music.

Keyboard stand is much lighter than steel legs, albeit bulkier on the load-in/out

Despite them being pricey the quality is there.

I have only great things to say about its rigidity, stability and professional look. I find Keyboard stands give a different look to your audience and fellow musicians.

But i guess its debatable as long as you can play.

Is the question about the weight of the legs?
There are lightweight chrome plated legs available....

If cost is an issue..

A separate stand is going to be the least expensive option. Keyboard stand or folding stands are available on ebay.

If you want them installed on the guitar make sure the legs and sockets are good quality. Sillmusicsupply or

The best option for a pre made stand is deluxe34.com
