Non-playing steel guitar lovers
You know those folks who come up to the steel player when they can and tell the player they love the sound of steel guitar.
I say “when they can” because these folks are pushed aside when other steel players are present
These folks don’t know or think about how hard you’ve worked learning Steel Guitar or that you have or have not had to made a choice of making a living or playing steel guitar nor do they care if you are a great player or not.
There are some folks out there that love steel guitar and just don’t think about it enough to know it.
Most of the money you make playing, gigs or on hit records come from non-steel players.
Perhaps steel players should think about staying out of the way when not playing and spend more time with these folks.

I’ve only gone to concerts with my father (he’s a Steel player and my wheel chair chauffeur).
As a non-player I liked almost all of them we’ve been to but my father disliked most of them.
To my father it was always they didn’t have the steel in the mix high enough, they didn’t turn the steel player loose on anything etc. etc..
To me as a non-player I thought everything was just right.
From the non-players perspective the concert is about the crowd reaction, the energy and fun spurred on by the music and a little star worship thrown in!
Other wise you could just as well sit home and watch youtubes.
