Well as some may know, a few months back I picked up an 81 Emmons Push Pull, very nice guitar, has that Push Pull growl. But in my less than infinite wisdom I tinkered with the ABC peds and kinda got it outta' joint by ever so much. I'm good with All Pulls but the part of my brain that was reserved for Push Pull knowledge is empty.

I have been wanting to pay a visit to Billy Knowles over in Kenansville NC for a while so this was the time.

Billy went thru my Steel and gave me yet another lesson on setup and PP related stuff !

Sure I can read about the PP setup but you can't beat being in the presence of those in the know , those that were there when it was all going down.

Visiting Billy was a real pleasure , not just to tap his brain for additional PP knowledge but the conversations that went along with it.

We also talked in great depth about the Legrandes of which I also recently acquired a LII.

Living in NC, evidently is a very good thing for those of us who are seeking Emmons Guitar wisdom . We have several "Emmons" folks in the area.

Oh yeah, I'm dangerous now, if you call me and ask me to setup your PP and I say ok, I can do it , run for the hills ! Laughing

Thanks Billy, see you again my friend !

I highly recommend Billy for your Steel needs...

Tony..You didn't happen to spot a D-10 Rosewood SKH LeGrande on your visit? Billy informed me that my total rebuild should be completed next week and its arrival is highly anticipated!!

I am blessed to live close to Billy, but even more so to call him one of my closest friends.

Billy has "tweaked" my S10 p/p a couple of times and it always leaves his place better than it came in. I learn a few new things too.

Knowing he is only about a 45 minute drive from my place is a HUGE security blanket and he is about as nice a guy as you will ever meet.

Come to think of it, it might be a good time to schedule a 50,000 mile tuneup visit to Steel Guitars East.

As long as we have steel guitar mechanics like Billy Knowles you should never hesitate in getting an Emmons guitar.

P. S. He is also a very well respected and accomplished ZB steel guitar mechanic too.

Merry Christmas Billy and health and happiness to you and yours.

Walter

I've said it before here, but Billy Knowles is an exceptionally talented person who works wonders on pedal steel guitars. He is patient, listens carefully, and is not satisfied until you are. If you need any repairs, adjustments, modifications, etc., you should contact Billy.

I would be remiss by not mentioning my friend Doug Palmer in Greensboro NC as well, also an experienced Emmons tech. Doug gave me my first hands on with the PP, enough to make me real dangerous ! Here in NC we are pretty fortunate to have both Billy and Doug to call on. Both worked at Emmons in Burlington with Ron Sr. Both excellent guys with enough stories to fill a sock. Laughing
