Just wanted to share a picture of the Sho Bud I just recently purchased. Gonna try to learn how to play this thing!! Wondered if I got a good deal at $1660 ??
Any thoughts?

Man, you stole this one.
I bought my new one in 1980 for that price and sold it to Bobbe Seymour for more than that as a trade in for my Emmons.

The Super Pro is a great guitar but bear in mind the knee lever brackets are made out of pot metal and will break at some point in time. I would highly recommend if your gonna have any work done to purchase the new upgraded brackets from Michael Yahl. They are OEM specs but machined out of 6061 aircraft and have who ever works on your guitar to install them. Great looking Bud and congratulations... Slim

I've owned two SuperPros since 1980 and still have my 2nd one setup now. I have never broken any of the knee levers, but I have seen some when playing kick the hell out of them.
A little less aggressiveness and they will last a lifetime.

Start with the Winnie Winston book.
The way to play these things is to think like pedal steel. Which you don't know how to do yet.
Harmonized scales. Don't give up

Also look up MIckey Adams you tube videos... Alot of info in his lessons and he explains what and why that particular riff scale etc is played that way....slim

| i can't recommend the jeff newman series enough for learning materials. the books are expensive (but you already got a great deal on a steel), but they're really helpful in giving you an overall understanding of common moves, harmonized scales and fretboard pockets. they really helped me see how everything else i was learning (licks, intro, solos) were put together. |

either of you guys have a recommendation on tuners? I am using my polytune guitar pedal tuner right now but I don't think that's the proper tuner to use? |

As long as it's a chromatic tuner, it's fine.
I think the programmed tuners are a bit overrated.
A straight chromatic tuner is adequate, and it'll sound a bit better if you tune the following notes a bit flat (like 4-6 cents): G#, C#, D# and F.
I use Cleartune

Shameless plug here. If you go to my website (see below), I have a section devoted to Mickey's videos. They are separated in different menus by the prefix BE, BEC, BEX, etc), so you don't have to spend a lot of time searching for the videos that are for beginners.
