| The Pierzo pickup in my Weissenborn was problematic so I removed it. Any suggestions for a sound hole pickup? |

I'd give the K&K pure mini a try. Very affordable and the best thing about it: it's not a soundhole PU, it's three transducers that are attached to the bridge plate. IMO it's by far the most realistic sounding PU for acoustic guitars and you won't even know it's there when you play acoustic only. I have it in my '25 Weissenborn style 1 and love it. It sounds great by itself and if you add a mic it's even better.
No feedback issues whatsoever. But you have to use it with a proper preamp/ DI. I use the K&K pure XLR preamp. |

I have an Adams acoustic lap steel. I've been using the under saddle piezo that Mr. Adams built into it until recently. I had a problem with it once, which I still don't understand, but I used a DiMarzio Super Natural magnetic soundhole pickup instead. The immediate response from my friends is that it sounds a whole lot better. I concur.
What I've noticed is that under saddle piezos tend to accentuate the bar/string clash. I can hear every little imperfection in my technique. Magnetic pickups aren't exactly acoustically "honest", but nothing really is. I've become a believer in them for lap steel. They sound fuller and are much more forgiving.
As far as which one is the best, I couldn't say. The DiMarzio sounds pretty good to me, but there are lots of them I haven't tried. A lot of people swear by Sunrise, but they're pricey. |

| I have an Iseman Weissenborn with a Sunrise and a K&K Pure Mini installed running thru a Pendulum SPS-1 preamp. Killer setup. I also have a Pogreba Baritone Weissenborn with a Seymour Duncan Mag Mic only. Straight into the amp which is a California Blonde. That Mag Mic gives the Iseman setup a run for its money. Trust me. No preamp because the Duncan is an active pickup. 9 volt battery in the Pogreba that I haven't changed in 8 months of heavy usage. I can't say enough about the Mag Mic. Awesome pickup! |

| On my Weissenborn I use a Sunrise sound hole pickup and an under the bridge Baggs pickup. I run both signals into a Marshall acoustic amp with a stereo cord and balance the signals via two channels, a wonderful sound. |

here's a recording made with a very basic setup, you hear K&K pure mini's on the old "57 D-18 and the Weissenborn, the latter also having a bit of dynamic mic blended into it, but not much at all.

Pretty natural sound, IMO, unlike any of the magnetic PU's I've heard. Just my opinion. I love the tone David Lindley gets with the Duncan, it's huge but not very natural. There's no better or worse choice but there are differences and for a natural sound the K&K's are a great choice.
And I love the fact that it is invisible and doesn't constrict the acoustic tone like a soundhole PU does. |

I use an LR Baggs M-1 sound hole pickup. Has good clarity & dynamic range and also picks up some body vibration for a more natural sound. I also use it with an LR Bags DI box I picked up used on eBay. I'm completely incompetent in using it (I just twist dials randomly till it sounds good) but it gives you a lot of extra control in shaping your sound and the Weissenborn sounds huge with this set-up.

I have an Eden Preamp and considering either the Dimarzio sound hole pickup with pole pieces and a volume slider $89.00 Have to see if the pole pieces line up?
Also the Lawrence sound hole pickup with a volume control $49.00 and does not have pole pieces. |

I'm thinking about trying an "AcousTech" pickup when I get a Weissenborn. It uses a magnetic disc glued to the bridge plate and then has a unit that sits about an 1/8" away from the disc that senses the vibrations in the top. It's low impedance and the cable is TRS to XLR and can go direct into a snake. I have two of them that used to be in a couple of acoustic guitars I had back in the '90's when they were produced. They sounded amazing but seemed to get out of alignment easily in the acoustics, but for some reason I'm thinking it might work better in a lap guitar.
The downside might be noise from my picking hand as it turns the top into a microphone. Has anyone ever tried one of these?

I have found the Seymour Duncan mag mic pretty good. David Lindley asked for both his Burgin weissenborns to be fitted with them and I have heard him play a few times. Good tone. Can handle it loud too.
Otherwise we use a K and K.
