Hello everyone,

I've got a Milkman Half & Half with the 15" speaker. Since I've burned it in, it's sounded great.

However, I'm having trouble dialing in my Earth Drive.

I liked the Earthdrive through my previous amp because it had significant breakup that was fairly "transparent" (close in EQ to my bypassed sound).

The most drive I can get with the HnH that sounds natural is a grainy, dirty boost. As I turn the drive up, the drive sounds "like a pedal" for lack of a better word. Almost like a fuzz, but with an EQ that's very different from my clean tone.

My paranoiac fear is that it will be hard to get a natural sounding OD with the 15" speaker.

Who's using an Earthdrive with their HnH? Would you mind sharing you settings?

Alternately, anyone else finding success with a different pedal?

*It may be unrelated, but I'm also using a new PSG with a Lawrence blade humbucker in it. Is that possibly a factor?

I use Earth Drive with Half and Half and have no problem - I set all knobs at 12 o'clock, plus or minus a bit depending on how I feel...get nice "just on the edge of breakup" tone out of it....I'm not looking for distortion, just a little tube-amp style boost.

Half and Half set at treble 6, mid 7, bass 7
Mine is a 15".

I used to use a Crowther Hotcake - what Nels Cline used before he discovered the Earth Drive, I let him do my research for me...it was similar but had a little more TS-9-like grit vs. Earth Drive more clear tube-soundy tone. It was better than a TS-9, though.

I just started using the Earth Drive and I really like the way it "fills" out the tone. It's something else to fool with but I don't know if I'll be able to play without it.

I use a Milkman Half and Half and the Earth Drive.

The Earth Drive is perfect and unique for lightly overdriven sounds. Like a pushed tube amp. It is a truly great pedal.

For a gnarly sound I like the Fulltone OCD and the Durham Crazy Horse.

I also use a Fulltone full drive 2 mosfet for certain situations.

I have not found an overdrive/fuzz/distortion pedal that does it all.

Check out the OCD. They can be had pretty cheap used and are pretty amazing.
