I visit Mike's site occasionally, and for the past week or so it has been MIA, Joanie's as well.
In fact, the only thing I can really find are a handful of youtube vids. and a link to Nashvilleprosteel.com.
I wonder if they made him pull the sites, a contractual thing or something like that.
I absolutely love his style, which I would set as E9th technical/jazzy. (My personal description, may not be yours, lol) Love the steel work on "Together Again".

As an aside, has he done much C6th work? Since I'm just getting back into the "steel guitar thing" after a long layoff, I'm not up on who is doing what styles, etc. _________________ Sierra Crown D-10 |

Oh, that is a good one. Mike does a great job on it. And the master himself, Buddy is looking on approvingly... _________________ Sierra Crown D-10 |

Are you kidding me? Your "wondering" is just conjecture and the way you framed the question never gave me a chance.
Listen... I did NOT make him pull the sites and there is NO contractual or verbal thing between Mike and I regarding his website. Or his wife's.
Did you ever think they are being updated or down for maintenance? That's what happens to websites.
I take my reputation and NPS seriously, I'm just here defending it. |

Mark,
I meant absolutely nothing untoward in my initial post, and I'm sorry that it was interpreted in that manner.
What I was getting at is, I know that companies/employers sometimes request/require that they have exclusive rights over an individual's content, and/or personal content as well - of which you have stated is not the case here, and that is fine, case closed.
I don't feel that I framed the question in any disparaging manner at all, rather the problem lies with the "2-D" nature of the internet. If I would have asked the question in person, I'm certain this would have had a different outcome.
BTW, if you re-read my initial post, there is only one sentence referring to the pulling of the sites, simply a wondering/sideline thought, not conjecture - at least not in my mind anyway. The post is mainly about Mike and my admiration of his talent.
Nashville Pro Steel looks to be an awesome site; The HD quality of the videos are excellent. And, may I make a request? Any chance to add some females players/instructors to the lineup? _________________ Sierra Crown D-10 |

Hey Tim, no worries man. I was just concerned that anybody could have read your post and concluded MJ's page was down because of me and NPS.
Mike is a friend/colleague of mine and an integral part to nashvilleprosteel.com - I would never think of making him take his site down, and just the notion of that (real or perceived) got under my skin.
Online forums can be pretty powerful, perception is everything and so are personal/business reputations. That's where I'm coming from.
It's all good, Tim. We're cool. Everything is understood.
Now, about the females... I'm open to it, but not just because they're women, you know? Is there any difference they would make that's special? Do they instruct in a unique way? I have to say I'm a little puzzled by the request. The only criteria to be an NPS PRO is that they record with major artists and have some name recognition. Any women to recommend?
Maybe this topic should be a thread unto itself. |

I guess a couple of females on the instruction team just to even it out so it doesn't look like an "All Boys Club", you know? Plus, they're easier on the eyes!
Sarah Jory comes to mind, but off the top of my head I don't know of others (since I've just gotten back into this, I don't know many of the top names)
Also, I'm not sure of Sarah's background, if she would meet your criteria. _________________ Sierra Crown D-10 |

I would love to get a hold of Mike to purchase CD's if possible. I can't do that since the site is down. Can I get some contact info for him? Or is there a place I can purchase his music?
Thanks! |

That's what I wanted to do as well. I kept looking at his site, putting off the purchase and now it appears that it is too late - or at least until when/if they bring the site back up.
I scoured the net & cannot find his cd's available anywhere else...if anyone has a source for his music, please post links! _________________ Sierra Crown D-10 |

Hey Jason! I figured you were around here somewhere! I'm more of a lurker than anything. As you know I play mostly 6 string guitar but I've always loved steel too! I really like Mike's style and thought I'd grab some listening material.
I was able to get in touch with Joanie. She was unaware the site was down and has contacted the website admin. So, hopefully it will be back up before too long. |

Time for a long talk with the admin if they let the site go down for weeks and didn't notice. Hope they get it back online soon! _________________ Sierra Crown D-10 |

Hi,
It's Joanie. Thank you to Jess Morris for contacting me through facebook. I didn't know that our websites were down...lost in cyperspace! I had noticed that we had not had any orders for about 10 days, which seemed odd but I chalked it up to the busy summer schedules.
I have contacted our hosting company and we will be changing! Ha!
It will take a little time so I'll let you know, here on The Forum, when we're up and running again.
In the meanwhile your can find me on Facebook under Joanie Keller Johnson. Also, a nice man from Brazil, Adair Torres, has created a page for Mike on Facebook.
Thank you so much for your patience and support.
Hugs,
Joanie _________________ Mike Johnson
