If I was looking for that Sho-Bud tone but wanted undated mechanics...?? I have not had the pleasure of sitting at either one of these guitars yet... How about some feedback from those of you who own them... _________________ Gordy Rex

I own and play a Jackson Blackjack Custom and I love it! It's got a great sound, the sound is similar to a Sho-Bud and tone is great! The pedal action is very smooth, My Blackjack Custom is my main steel guitar! David, Harry, and Dawn Jackson build wonderful steels! |

Was admiring the craftsmanship of a "Shot Memorial" Jackson just last night, as well as the sound. Even looks like a ShoBud, including the wide pedals, but built way better. Wonderful guitar. |

Ken, that's the Shot Jackson Comemmorative model, which was the first model of Jackson Steel that David and Harry Jackson built. |

Currently own two Show Pros, wonderful guitars. If you are seeking the classic Sho-Bud tone, these have it in spades! |

I absolutely love both of my Show Pro guitars. Visit the Show Pro website and there's some great sound clips to listen to. Lots of Sho~Bud similarities , yet a much better built guitar. _________________ Show Pro #26 & #83,BJS bars,Stereo Steel,Tommy Huff cabs loaded with JBL D130's, Wampler pedals,NV112,NV400, Steelers Choice Seats |

My vote goes to Sho Pro as well. You will NOT find a more caring person who will do everything in his power to build you a guitar completely to your specifications. And to help you maintain it as well.
Jeff without a doubt is the best. _________________ Mark T

Sho Pro's Jeff Surrat makes some of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen. I have not had the pleasure of playing either brand as of yet.

Only negative that I can see to owning a Show Pro; they are so beautiful that you are reluctant to play them out. My D-10 has been on one gig in the three or more years that I have owned it,(a private party at a Country Club.) |

i don't understand owning a tool that can't be used. |

I understand why a lacquer guitar owner would only use it for special occasions. Chris don't you own at least one tool that you can't use? |

In response to Chris Ivey's post..The guitar in question receives a considerable amount of playing time at home, is not however exposed to cigarette smoke and/or clumsy, intoxicated people. Question: If you own a tuxedo, would you wear it to the local beer joint on Saturday nights or reserve it for special occasions? |

I tend to think of my nicer/vintage equipment as just tools UNTIL I damage them at a gig, then they are priceless, irreplaceable family members that did not deserve such an ill fate. _________________ Ralph. Mooney. |

My 1 of 9 ever made highest end Guild Superstrats..late 80sbought from a music store owner and collector....never hooked into a freight damaged hercules guitar stand at a gig...fell off the stage....third song in...it was hard liquor for the rest of the night.
expensive gig...but alas... I never felt bad about using it again after that...war worthy in fact.
Not a fan of the utility viewpoint any longer. |

both of these are great steels, but if i was hunting the Sho-Bud tone it would be Jeff Surratt at Show-Pro. extremely nice guy who is easy to talk to and passionate about his work. he is just one of those guys you instantly like when you meet him. _________________ '65 Sho-Bud D-10 Permanent • '54 Fender Dual-8 • Clinesmith T-8 • '38 Ric Bakelite • '92 Emmons D-10 Legrande II |

Sounds like a plan to me!!! In all seriousness, I can't recommend these two companies more highly.
