Yes. I was lucky enough to play steel on the whole album. Sure was a great experience!

Great stuff Jeremy! Tasty playing . What a dream to work with Ry. I believe Sam is heading out to Australia soon with Justin Townes Earle. I'll definately go check him out.
Cheers and congrats on the great work,
Shane.

Congratulations, Jeremy! I'm sure Ry Cooder is an idol of many of us here on the forum, so expect a lot of jealousy coming your way!

Ry is a hero of mine, so congratulations to you!

Can you share a little of the experience, particularly Ry's attitude towards the steel?

Add me to list of envious steel pickers. Great playing and what a treat to play with Ry. His legacy of outstanding music is maybe unprecedented. Been a huge Ry fan since the early 70's.

Ry loves steel!! He mentioned being into Speedy West. I think he's a fan of the non pedal too. He has one I believe. Somehow, someway, I wasn't nervous because he's super cool and has a great vibe about him. First thing he said as we were getting sounds is "what a great steel tone you're getting". That was awesome coming from such a tone freak! (I just used my GFI into a 72 twin). He is very positive and likes EVERYTHING we layed down. Ha. So the hardest part was figuring out which take to use! Yes, we tracked (most) everything live; old school. I am closer to his son, Juaqim's age so it was like doing a project with your friend's Dad. haha. An experience I will never forget. What a legend!

The steel sound is beautiful. I like the song; there is kind of Tex-Mex thing going, excellent instrumentation.
I can only imagine working with Ry Cooder.

I saw The Freightshakers tonight here in SoCal and Jeremy was killing it on lead guitar and keyboards. David Berzansky was sitting in on steel and is also monster player on both necks. I very much enjoyed meeting and watching y'all tonight!
