Bear with me, I'll do my best to describe it: the lick usually comes in on the "and" of the first beat, on the third of the chord followed by another string bending up to match from a whole step below, you fiddle between the two unisons a bit, then bend back down. I hear it often enough in contemporary recordings that I doubt it's a very exotic change. I'll try to find a recorded example, but hopefully someone can pick up what I'm putting down. |

It is commonly achieved by raising the 1st string w a knee lever to be in unison w the 3rd string and was frequently used by a number of Nashville guys on records. |

if you have a 2nd string lower a full tone, then lower it, and as you pick it, pick string 5 and press the A pedal. |

Yup, that's it! Maybe I can finally put a little polish on that poor, neglected vertical.
Thank you both! |

Alas, I've only got a RKR half step lower on my 2nd. What do think he's doing in the clip above? I suspect it will be clear once I'm back behind my guitar. |

I think he's doing what i said originally, but you could get it somewhere else if you have two unison notes, one of which you can then lower back a full tone.
I forgot you have a U12, so you'll have to transpose this for your own cope dent. |

You could also pick 3rd string open, then pick 1st string raised a full tone, releasing it. |

The E-string bent up a whole tone with the C pedal, together with the first string. I think that's what Al Perkins did here:

At least I played it and it wasn't bad. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |

I didn't catch it in the song, but I think that's the move I'm looking for and have available with my changes. And by also lowering my second string, I should be able to get the bend up then descending major 3-2-1 on the same fret. |

More of the same, it starts at 4:00, played by Jerry Garcia:

Since it it 2 steps above the root note which is D, you have to go to steps down to the 8th fret. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |

Here's the common contemporary change, used a few ways:
1st and 2nd string raise demo, The Other Woman: http://youtu.be/XUykptG6DBQ (if I knew more about what you were thinking of, I could put together a video of more).
And here's the Emmons Cross, third bar of the intro, using the 2nd string lower to C# along with the A pedal:
Ray Price - An Eye For An Eye: http://youtu.be/hiOsYDegw0U _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects |

Thanks, Joachim. I have fun. Need to do more playing.
Alas, there won't be much playing over the next few weeks, as the stepson is coming for a visit, must get the house ready for company. Just wish he were bringing the daughter-in-law and grandbaby, but they're stuck in Thailand. (those with the Facebook have probably seen the pics of the cute grandson) _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Ditto- great playing, Lane! That's definitely what I had in mind. I'll have to give that behind the bar finger bend a shot for now. |
