I wouldn't know what to call it. There's a bit of everything in there. Mostly soul, funk, rock, jazz--dissonance and sweetness welcome--sweet and sour.
On second thought, I would call it Experimental. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

I can't choose just one. For me it's a mix of country, swing/jazz, rock, bluegrass, Hawaiian, pop, oldies, exotica, etc. _________________ My Site / My YouTube Channel

I selected Old timey since I play mostly traditional country music and not the current modern country. |

Most of my friends play original rock/folk/pop so that is what I play when I gig a few times a month. When I practice I try to transcribe material from the great Hawaiian, Country, and Western Swing players. |

Doesn't surprise me if many here would answer "all of the above, plus...".
I've mostly played blues and country rock, in public, on non-pedal steel. At home, in my ongoing exploration of the instrument, I've dabbled in just about everything, but especially Hawaiian and western swing. |

When I hear something (song) that I like, I learn it. Category's don't come into consideration. |

I put country. The band I'm playing with bills itself as a honkytonk band, or if we are playing a venue that caters to the hipster crowd we will through in "Americana"
At home I play a bit of everything _________________ "Don't be mad honey, but I bought another one" |

I've modified the poll to include the categories "Rock" and "Other".
Personally I feel that there should only be two categories: "Good" and "Bad". _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Can't figure out how to put my vote in, but I've only been doing western swing lately. My PSG is gathering dust. :/ _________________ 2 cheap dobros, several weird old lap steels, and one lifelong ticket to ride on the pedal steel struggle bus. |

I'm not quite as diverse as Doug. And my diversity comes mostly because of who I get the opportunity to play with. Jazz standards and G.A.S. are my favorite. But recently, my opportunities to play with others have mostly involved Country, Western Swing, folk and cowboy. _________________ Amor vincit omnia |

I had trouble voting, too, finally figured out through trial and error that you have to be logged in to vote. |

I picked country but really my choice of music is diverse.
I have concentrated on Doug B's books, Mel Bay's Little Roy Wiggins and Don Helms books. And I have several old professional arrangement Oahu music songs I like to play. Many had arrangements in C6th.
Also have printed off so many gems by Bob Gentile and many others who have put non-pedal tabs on here.
So much music, so little time.
Dick
On pedal steel I sure like all the work Erv has done for us. |
