If you have a four-leg lap steel stand or know of one, could you check out my ad in the wanted section? Thanks! |

Tony - The best lap steel stands out there are made by Mark Roeder (http://www.deluxe34.com). I don't know your budget, but as a long term investment in your instrument(s), they're worth looking into. In addition, they can be modified if your needs change. |

btw - I can use the stand for my Asher Alan Akaka Special, my JB Frypan and my Rick B6. Very useful. Be sure to mention to Mark that you want an adjustable one. They cost around $400, but they are worth every penny, IMHO. _________________ Jack Aldrich

Like I tell most folks...don't leave the cord plugged into a guitar on a stand when people are walking around on the stage, walking over cords.
Don't ask how I know about this.... |

Murph was using a walker as a stand when I saw him here with Hank III many years ago. I can't remember how he strapped the guitar on to the walker but it was endearingly crude whatever it was. He was using something a bit more sophisticated a couple of years later when I saw him with the Wheel.
Having said that, my Roeder stand is terrific, and I recommend them highly. |

That one at deluxe34.com looks like a very sturdy stand. Mine is an old 40s model that was popular back then, and it's kinda wobbly... |

I bought a gator stand that Chris mentioned a year or so ago. I really like it, it is heavy, very sturdy and can handle multineck steels. I put some non-skid black rubber shelf liner material on it fixed with double sided sticky tape. It will adjust to standup height. Very reasonably priced also. |

Hey Tony,
I was in Skiberdeen last May on my way to Fiddle Fair in Baltimore! I spent 10 wonderful days in Baltimore and heard some great sessions. Unfortuately, I sideswiped a parked car while driving through Skiberdeen on my way down to Baltimore. It cost me 150 Euro on my first day of my much anticipated holiday and first visit to your country. After that incident, I was too paranoid to drive anywhere else. I parked my rental car in Baltimore and walked every where until it was time to drive back to Dublin. I drove back through Skiberdeen at a VERY slow and cautious speed. I am 61 and could not get the hang of driving on the left with the steering wheel on the right, and, my god man, those roads in Ireland were made for horse and buggys! |

Hi Tom....sorry you had a mishap! Hope the music made up for it. And it's Skibbereen btw. If you come again, a little tip: Hire a tractor next time and drive through town at high speed whilst talking on a cell-phone, it seems to work for the local farmers! |

If you drove through Ireland on your way from Austin, Texas to Baltimore, Maryland, and all that went wrong was a little bumper-bender, I'd say you got off pretty easy. |
