Hi Leon,

Too bad you didn't inquire about Hawaiian venues earlier.

The HSGA will be having their 2015 HSGA Convention in WAIKIKI on April 28---May 1.

Someone with knwledge of the local scene will be responding soon.

Roger

I'm headed to Oahu for 15 days on 1/15. Here's what I know about, and some rumors, too. Wednesday at the Kanikapila Grill at the Outrigger at the Beach is Cyril Pahinui with Jeff Au Hoy on steel guitar and Peter Moon, Jr. on ukulele and guitar. Thursday 6-9:30 pm (or so) is the Keawe Ohana featuring Alan Akaka on steel at The Moana Terrace at the Waikiki Marriott. One Friday/month is the Ko'olau Serenaders with Derrick Mau on steel at Honey's at the Ko'olau Golf Course and another Friday has the Obriga Ohana with Timi Obrigo frequently playing steel. I hear that Ramon Camarillo has added a steel guitarist to his group t Nico's on Pier 38 Friday noon hour (11-2, as I recall). Ku`uipo Kumukahi's band, featuring Isaac Akuna on steel is at the Royal Hawaiian Mall outside the Royal Hawaiian Hotel out on Kalakaua Ave Friday 5-7. Sometimes, Bobby Ingano sits in with Martin Pahinui, George Kuo and Aaron Mahi Sunday afternoons at the Moana Terrace. I'm sure there's more.

I must add that April is a heavy duty Hawaiian Steel Guitar month. The HSGA convention, as mentioned above, The Maui Steel Guitar Festival at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel, April 24-26, and the HSGA stage in Kapi'olani Park on Lei Day. That meash that there'll be a lot of steelers around, sitting in with people already playing gigs, etc. I also forget to mention Greg Sardihna Tuesday evenings at the Halekaulani.

Seems Greg has lost the Tuesday evening Halekulani gig again, but Jeff Au Hoy has been seen filling in on Mon. and Tues. recently.

Jeff informs that he's now a regular at THw/oAK (Halekulani) every other Tuesday starting Feb 3. Waikiki just got better, and hearing more of that big fat StringMaster triple neck will be quite welcomed.

Jeff had his Rickenbacher Frypan (refurbished by Rick Aiello) in Ft. Collins, and he's wonderful on it.
