I have the Evans FET 500 LV amp with 15" BW in it and it sounds very good to me. I haven't tried the SE300

I have 2 FET500s and would not sell either one, they are great steel guitar amps, IMHO. John Hughie used them, Buddy Charleton used them.

Several months ago, I ordered a new SE500. The build time was less than Scot quoted and he kept me updated with his progress on a daily basis. The power & tone in the new SE series is unbelievable....smooth, pleasing highs, perfect clean lows and the digital reverb sounds very nice. I easily "dialed-in" my sound using only my Show Pro, Goodrich 120 & George L cables.  |

| Since not ever having played through the new Evans SE series amps, I sought out some sample settings. Scot Buffington has some excellent settings in his operating manual in order to get you started. Also, SoundPure on YouTube has an excellent video on dialing in your tone with an Evans SE200. I did a Forum search under "Electronics" and found my favorite settings to be those of Ronald Sikes. The Evans SE500 as well as the SE300 has the Eminence Delta Pro speaker. I found it to be remarkably close to the EVM-15L speaker, a favorite of mine. |
