For all the people looking for great steel playing , Mondays in Nashville is a Bonanza ! Doug Jernigan plays with Aubrey Haynie , Carl Jackson , Larry Cordie , and usually Catherine Marx @ the Station Inn ..Last Monday he was fantastic , using a Benado steel dream for his effects . Even had Jeanae Kearner come in on fiddle & vocals . BTW, Val Story is female vocalist with the band. Jay Andrews came in for a visit too. Nice to catch up with him ,,,wish he was playing more .
There is no shortage of great steel in town at other places . Paul Franklin plays with the Time Jumpers @ 3rd & Lindsley , Tommy White is on Broadway with Vince Marino ...and several other players also on Broadway ...Eddie Lange , Eddie Dunlap , and more .

I forgot to mention Tommy Hannon & his group playing western swing . Rusty Danmyer and the "music City Playboys" Sometimes Eddie Lange on steel.
Also , on Tuesday night Bobby Reid at the Longhollow Jamboree , about 4 miles out from exit 97 hwy 65.
You don't have any shortage of fine players , and they are all right on stage for our amazement.

On a recent Monday night there I saw Franklin, Jernigan, White and Lange in the space of five hours...doesn't get any better than that!

Jerry, I've heard so many good things about Doug, and wish I was there to see it.
Looks like it will be a must do on my list, as soon as I return.
Thank you very much for letting him use the Steel Dream.

WOW!!! If I ever go to Nashville I should find out when Jerry's going and just follow him around. Actually I'll be seeing Doug at the PSGA show in Norwalk Conn. in a couple of weeks. I hope he brings that Benado Steel Dream with him so we can hear it.

This band does several kinds of music ...Val Story does some standard country from over the yrs ,,, Carl Jackson and Larry Cordle do a lot of variety country ,,,Larry wrote Hwy 40 Blues , Murder on Music Row, etc ,,, Carl will do some of the stuff he produced with atrists like Emmy-Lou Also plays banjo tunes .... Doug will do some breakdowns with Aubrey Haynie on fiddle ,,,then also Jazz tunes like Lady be Good. Hope that answers the question ... the place has been filling up real well , but still no long lines ...Oh yuh , many times Ashley Campbell will play banjo .. real great piano , bass & drum .(snare)

I was there last night. They had Val Story singing and she was fabulous as was Doug.

Just one complaint about the Station Inn, I have been there several times and its a great place, but every time I have been there a guest gets up and sings "Your Cheating Heart" with the band. Now its a great song but most of us who have listened to country music all our lives have heard it a few times before.
