I have heard much of strings in the past, but I wonder if some of you hardened professional players can advise me on the best for tone and durability. I was playing the other day and felt the bass strings were not right, they were quite rough ,so fortunately I had a set of jagwire and fitted them ; this cured the problem . This is the first time I have fitted strings to my Zum Encore and it took my OLD CRUMPLED HANDS quite a while but patience endured and all is well. James Taylor SCOTLAND |

James ,you have done right thing, Jagwires! That is what I use, unfortunately not available in UK. You can order them direct from Jagwire in US, I normally buy my years supply when at Dallas show..There are many views on strings, but I personally think they are the best ones I have used(and I have used many brands) .Most brands these days are good, but everyone has personal preferences . _________________ MSA Millenium SD10, GK MB200, Sica 12inch cab, Joyo American Sound Pedal/ Jay Ganz Straight Ahead amp, Telonics 15inch in Peavey cab, Digitech RP150, Peterson tuner.Hilton volume pedal.Scott Dixon seat and guitar flight case. |

I have been using George L's Stainless for some 25 years now. They are consistant and last as long as any other string I have ever tried.
This is why I became a George L's dealer. I believe in them. |

Everyone has their own preference. No one is wrong or right.
My personal, I've been using George L's (Nashville gauges) which are SS on the wound strings. I've been using them as long or longer than Bill Ferguson, as I started using them when they were first marketed as "George L's".
I've tried almost every other brand but keep going back to the George L's. I bought some Jagwire strings, mainly to support the forum, but didn't like them. Same with the Live Strings, bought to support the forum but unfortunately I didn't specify the gauges and they were different than the "standard" Nashville Gauges which caused me some problems on one change. |

The very best strings I`ve ever `twanged` with in my life.
I just can`t help bragging about them. I even use them on my Dobro and ol`5 string.
They also last the longest - what else can I say.
All Z.B.est.

Yep....I just put a new set of Live's on. I checked the invoice when I bought them....they were on my Rains for 11 months, and never broke a single string, and still sounded fine |

Thanks Chris, will give them a try at the next scraping sound from my present set. I do hope that is real Scotch in that glass. JAMES TAYLOR

it would be interesting to have a comparison chart of all strings to see what the metal content is and to see which strings are the same string in a different wrapper. |
