Bought this guitar a couple weeks ago. I'm thinking it's a 1965, but those invoice number guitars are hard for me to figure out.
It's a red belly D-10, no stripe on pickups, wide chrome fretboards, etc. it now has 8X4, but I'm sure that has changed over the years.
Anyone have any history. I do know it is the "Rapearound" Bobby Dardeman had for sale a few years ago....lol

Hello Justin;
Nice score there. Congratulations!!
The wraparounds are getting scarce & expensive.
Many folks consider them to be the " holy grails "
of the push pull guitars.
Sorry I can't help you on the invoice number guitars but there are some on here that will help.

Wow, nice guitar. Wrap arounds are getting as scarce as hens teeth, especially the red bellies I understand.
How does it sound?

I didn't deal with Dardeman directly. A friend bought it for Dave Biller. Dave decided to sell it and I got it through him.
I'm not sure if this is the guitar Denny played or not. You might ask him Mike. I know Dardeman had it for several years. I just am trying to figure out who had before. It don't really matter, I'm just curious
Herb gave me some good info, but there is still a few questions.

Chris, some of the earlier Emmons steels used invoice number instead of a serial number. Somewhere in the mid or later 60's they changer to the serial number with a D in front if it was a double neck. this one is a 65 or 66, don't know which.

I deleted the details I posted about the four Emmons push pull numbering formats in the 1960s, the six bellcrank styles, seven pedal styles, three keyheads etc that and many other details that date an Emmons push pull.
Sorry for sharing the precise history. I received too much harassment from the Oregon Boys. Good luck.

Whatever. It was not accurate. Just as the list listed on the Carter site that was faked is inaccurate.
It does not matter. I was just perplexed why you posted and answer when you did not know the history? Odd. But typical here.

Chris,
You are such an amazing wealth of knowledge on these early push pulls.
Could you tell me at what point in time did all this experimentation end? I'm thinking Mr. Lashley must have been testing different things to get the best sound possible. Were all the bugs worked our by 1967? 1968? 1969? 1970?
Also, is this the correct order of changers used? Bolt-on --> wrap around --> cut tail?

No. Sorry. I have gotten too much harassment from the Oregon Boys this evening.
I have nine Wraparounds and have owned close to a third of them made, and was trying to acquire every 1964 so I could compare them side by side. But I guess guys who knew someone who once heard a Wraparound on a record know more,

I live in Oregon and as such, I want to offer my sincerest apologies to those people who are asking these valuable questions and not getting answers, because of the "Oregon Boys" whoever they may be. I don't know of anyone here in Oregon (myself included) that would have any interest in harassing anyone able or willing to provide detailed information about the history of the early Emmons guitars.
