Yours truly will be taking the trusty Emmons out to play with the incomparable Joni Harms this coming Sunday, July 27, at St. Josef's Winery, located a few miles South of Canby on S Barlow Road (which just happens to occupy what was once part of my great-great-grandfather Ezra Henson’s original 1850 Donation Land Claim, but that’s another story). This Sunday’s event marks the Oregon release of Joni’s 12th CD - "From Oregon to Ireland" - recorded live in concert with Ireland’s fabled Sheerin family last year.
We will be joined for this romp by the amazing Lex Browning on fiddle and guitar, the ever-steadfast Mark LaRue Todd on bass, and the eminently tasteful Brud Giles on drums.
Joni's daughter Olivia will front an opening set with us; a seasoned songwriter and performer in her own right, she’s big fun to work with as well, so we’re all looking forward to an evening of wine, food and family, great music and heartfelt smiles all around.
Admission to the winery grounds will cost you $5, and there will be plenty of food and libations. The music begins at 5:00 pm, continuing with a couple of brief breaks until 8:00 pm. If you're a fan of great songwriting, authentic western music, and/or you've never heard Joni sing, you owe it to yourself to come on out and join us, ‘cause this is gonna be a fun one for sure.
