I just received Ray Price's last CD: "Beauty Is".
I really enjoyed it although it doesn't leave one in a very good mood, it is rather morose. There are some good songs on the CD but really they couldn't be considered "country". The CD is typical of Ray's career; some songs have a lot of strings on them and other's feature some good steel guitar work by Paul Franklin and Scott Sanders. It's a shame that Buddy Emmons couldn't have been present on this final album. I know Ray really admired his playing.
What I really appreciated about the CD was something on the back cover for the CD. There was a personal message from Ray:
"I love my fans and have devoted my life to reaching out to them. I appreciate their support all these years, and I hope I haven't let them down. I am at peace. I love Jesus. I'm goint to be just fine. Don't worry about me. I'll see you again one day." Ray Price
