Said goodbye to my friend, mentor and hero Weldon Myrick today.
For those who couldn't attend it was a very uplifting service officiated by Pastor Stu Phillips and Eddie Stubbs. Ricky Shaggs and The Whites sang beautiful hymns. Connie Smith paid tribute to Weldon's role in her carrer and sang as great as always accompanied by Jimmy Capps.
Pastor Phillips shared of Weldon's love of family and of his Lord.
Eddie Stubbs covered the long extensive career.
Service was concluded by Vince Gill & Paul Franklin doing Go Rest High.
A standing room only crowd was on hand to celebrate this larger than life husband, father, friend and musician.
It's hard to imagine a world without Weldon. Thankfully there are so many recordings to keep our memories alive.
Rest in peace my dear friend.

Johnny,

Thanks so much for your post on the service for Weldon. It was very moving, and quite the tribute to a great person and musician. Weldon was a great inspiration to so many steel guitar players. Although his passing is such a great loss, take solace in the fact that he was and will always be your friend.
