This is a Mullen D-10 lacquer guitar which was built in the spring of 1985. A few months ago I acquired another D-10. I don’t have room to keep both D-10’s set up thus this guitar is available. The idea of keeping it in it’s case, sitting in a closet, doesn’t reverberate with me. The idea of keeping it set up in the living room doesn’t reverberate with my wife.

I am the original owner of this guitar, having ordered it in the spring of 1985. I may have some of the original documentation. I gigged with the guitar until about 1992, when I got involved with a successful R&B band and pretty much stopped playing steel for the next 19 years, The point being is that the guitar is in remarkable condition, especially considering it's age. When the guitar was kept set up, overnight in a bar that I was playing, I wrapped it in a sheet to protect the top and bottom. The guitar has not been on a stage for 20+ years and has been a stay at home guitar, mainly for C6 playing.

It is a blue lacquer guitar, as you can see from the pictures. The color of the top and rear apron has darkened in a purplish way, as shown. The front apron has pretty much kept its original hue. There are very small, hard to see, bar dings between the necks. The guitar was sent to Mickey Adams in May of 2012 to be gone over and to be set up somewhat differently than it had been. It has aluminum necks. The tuners are Sperzels and have always been a little tight. This can be remedied but it’s not to the point that I feel it’s worth the effort. There is a thread on the forum as to how to accomplish this, if desired. The guitar tunes easily and stays in tune. Pickups are original Lawrence 705’s with chrome surrounds. The guitar sounds very “gutsy” to my ears. Changer is 3 & 2. There is a 1” lift kit on the guitar (1” over normal height).

The guitar has 8 pedals and 6 knees. The E9 pedals are Emmons. The E9 levers are as follows:
LKL 4 &8 E-F, LKR 4&8 E-D#, LKV 5&10 B-A#, RKL 1 F#-G#, 2 D#-E, 6 G#-F#, RKR 2 D#-D-C# (w feel halfstop), 7 F# - G#, 9 D-C#.

The C6 copedent is as follows:
P4 4&8 A- B, P5 1 G-G#, 5 G-F#, 10 C-D, P6 2 E-F, 6 E-Eb, P7 3 C-D, 4 A-B, P8 7 C-C#, 9 F-E, 10 C-A. Middle LKR 4&8 A-Bb, RKL 2 E-D, 6 E-F, RKR 3 C-B.

The right knee levers are a little stiff due to multiple pulls on them. I find them to be comfortable and the guitar to be solid enough to make this work. If it’s not to your liking you can always remove a couple of pulls. There are flags on the levers that move to the right. I have put dowels in the rear legs to maintain proper height. Comes with original case with new handle. There is some tape on worn tolex. Case is clean and solid.

The price on the guitar is $2,700., plus shipping and insurance). If you don’t want the lift kit, subtract $35. Payment by pay pal – credit card, add 3% or whatever the charge is. Pay pal gift (from bank account) has no charges associated with it. I’m ok with a personal check as long as buyer can wait for check to clear before guitar ships.

Thanks for looking. Feel free to email questions.

Nice guitar Howard! I'm drooling. Bet it sounds great too, with the combination of those pickups, the metal necks, and the lacquer body.

Folks, I just want to mention that Howard is a fantastic person to do business with. My experience with him told me he is a first rate person through and through.

Good luck on this sale Howard. Wish I could buy it myself.

Hi Howard,
I noticed in your signature you list a Fender Jazzmaster Amp. Do you use that for pedal steel? I have one of those that I use for guitar. I'm curious what your settings are.
Thanks,
Joe

PS That Mullen is a beauty! Some day I'll buy me a nice lacquer Mullen.
