Patti sat in with Faith Ako and other members of her band for a couple of gigs the weekend in Santa Cruz, California. It was the first time I had seen her play a newly acquired vintage Gibson lap steel.

It's a Roland MiniCube. A great little amp that'll fit into a suitcase for travel. Lots of my friends who play Hawaiian steel and slck key guitar use them. They cost around $100 or so. There's a bass version, too.

I just talked with Patti via face book and this is what she said:
"Patti wrote: "I checked info. from this site: www.folkwaymusic.com/museum/gibson-guitars/gibson-br6-0513 I believe it is a BR-6 possibly late 40's. The A6 tuning (hi to low) is E,C#,A,F#E,C#. I love the tone of this steel and it's my new "just happen to have one in the car"!!"

Patti gets asked to sit in with so many people that come through Santa Cruz, so she always has a steel guitar in her car. Ready to go at a moments notice.
