Hi folks, I'm new to the pedal steel. Just became the owner of a Deckley and was wondering in anyone might know some specifics about its date of manufacture. Thanks!

Yes, I bought it from a buddy of mine who had purchased it from a steel player here named Gabe I believe. Built like a tank is about right. I live in a third floor apartment and just about give myself a hernia every time I take the thing out. I'm loving it despite the weight! |

Thanks for the info! I thought maybe it was an older model because the numbers on mine don't match the ones in the Manuel. Paul, I am having a blast learning this thing and you'll be happy to know that after 2 years or so of collecting dust in my buddy's living room, she's getting played every day. |

I don't remember the exact details of that model guitar, but I think the 020 part of the serial number was a standard model D-10, similar to the 010 standard model S-10. Your 0001 serial number means it was the first one of that model that was built.I probably did the final setup and tuning, and stamped the numbers in the guitar. _________________ Jim Smith

Congratulations, James. That is a great guitar. It's really heavy, but sounds and plays great. I'm glad it's getting played again.

Thanks Gabe! I bought this off your old band-mate Dan. Great guy, Dan! He let me pay him in small installments. Probably would never have justified buying one outright. |
