I am a guitarist who recently picked up a PSG pretty much cold turkey. Carter Starter 3 pedal/4 lever E9 tuning. I understand how to make harmonic triads to somewhat make up chords. I however cannot find much information on what each individual pedal and lever do. I understand they bend notes, I just don't know which strings they specifically bend, and what those notes supposed to be when pedal/levers are engaged for tuning purposes. Like I said, I'm brand new to PSG and the Forum. Do not mean to be asking any stupid questions, I just don't have anyone around me that knows anything about the PSG to give me any help.
Could someone point me in the right direction, or recommend an instructional DVD that could be of use?

NO pedals, no bar: E9 chord. Gripping 7,5,4 & 3, that's a nice E major. the 2 string is a major 7th.
On some of these, you lose the 7th string and use the 6th string. You'll hear it.
A - turns those strings into a vi ( minor, sixth degree ) chord. Raises the B two half steps.
B - Suspended tonic chord.
A+B - IV chord.
C - I dunno what that is. Some weird suspension, like most of a 13th.
A+C - Just don't go there.
B+C - ii chord ( minor, second degree )
RKL ( aka the E lever ) - Lowers the E strings one half step - creates a iii ( minor third degree ) chord. It's a minor *chord* of the *major* third - a G#min at the open fret.
LKL (aka the F lever ) - Creates an F dim chord or most of a C#dom7 chord. dim chords repeat every third fret and can make you sound like you know what you're doing on 6 string...
LKL+B - dom7 chord.
LKL+A - A *major* (VI) sixth-degree chord. The F lever sharps the third of the iv chord (from just the A lever ) back to a major VI chord. Same chord as open at the 9th fret. |
