We didn't even have to twist his arm, Herb's agreed to be our featured artist for February.

http://www.herbsteinermusic.com/entrance.html

Details on other musicians are being sorted out as we speak, I'll post more here as things are finalized. Needless to say, expect a wonderful mix of Jazz and Country, buoyed by Herb's delightful banter.

The venue is as normal:

290 West Club
12013 U.S. 290W
Austin, TX 78737
(512) 288-0808

... and downbeat should be at 2pm for the jam, 3pm for Herb, and jamming on out from 4pm to 5-ish.

With all the local groups getting fired back up for 2014 February should prove a busy month... Billy Phelps' bunch in Houston/Katy Feb 2nd, Joe Rouse and the San Antonio/Converse gang Feb 9th, and ours the next week... start ramping up for Dallas in March!

We've managed (Rose, that is) to draft our normal wrecking crew, so we'll have Jerry Don Motley on guitar, Charlie Irwin on bass, and John Chandler on drums. Thanks for the help, Rose!

You've got a winner for the Feb Meeting.. Herb plays with the grace of a gazelle and makes the sounds of heavenly trumpets.
Well, maybe I'm getting a little carried away, maybe prejudiced, but he is pretty doggone good.
Great selection!

News! Herb has invited a saxophone player, Mr. Steven Vague, to accompany him... so there will be a woodwind in attendance.

I've also invited a local lapsteel maker I found on CL... Randy Wiggins and his wife will be coming. Here's an example of Randy's work... I'm assuming it will be available for us to try this Sunday. The price is very reasonable!
