I decided to tab out some of my better dobro things and I find that Tabledit playback is woefully out of tune. When you do the setup the tuning seems right but in actual practice the lower G and B strings seem to revert to guitar E and A
Is there a fix for this? _________________ whut we've got here is failyuh to c'mmunicate... |

Which version of TablEdit do you have?
In my (version 2.73 b8)the notes are OK!
If you look at Score - Instrument - Tuning
Has it the correct tuning?
What device have you as Midi Out?

The tuning is accurate and the window clearly states "Dobro" I made sure the key signature was correct.
Now I'm beginning to think it's just the crummy tone of the actual midi generator. It sounds so tubby.
The best thing at the moment is that you checked and you say it plays in tune for you so I can't blame the program now, can I?
I never was good at making tabledit work comfortably.
Thanks for checking to make sure it plays right for you.
I'll git this luver to work fer me yet!
Thanks again. _________________ whut we've got here is failyuh to c'mmunicate... |

My dobra in TablEdit is default tuned from high to low DBGDBG. If I want to change the tuning I have to click on “Score” then click on “Tuning” and tweak each string setting to the right note.
I think the tuning on yours is set Dobro with a tuning the same as guitar slide tuning.
So I would say that the 2 low notes are listed as E and A instead of G and B. Set the two low notes to G and B at the right octave and check the rest of the string settings to see if they are also correct and click “Apply” and “OK”. |

I think I solved the problem.
Gregg Booth gave my arrangement a listen and pronounced it as playing well for him so I uninstalled my Tabledit program altogether and reinstalled it from scratch. That seemed to solve the problem for me. It still has that robotic midi tone but at least it plays what I fed it now.
What a relief!
Thanks for giving my issue a look, guys... _________________ whut we've got here is failyuh to c'mmunicate... |
