What is the difference between a SHO-BUD PRO 2 CUSTOM and a PRO 3 CUSTOM please?
Thanks. Jimmy. |

Thanks Lane, for your input, but I am a bit confused it says on the Sho-Bud history page that the Pro 3 had the standard 2up/2down changer but the Pro 3 Custom I have has 3up/2 down changer so I assume it is a later Pro 3.
Jimmy.
But it`s a real nice steel.

If I am not mistaken, I believe the Pro 3 (and maybe even the Pro 1 & 2) may have switched to a 3 raise, 2 lower changer later in their production. Your guitar looks like it has the later Super-Pro type undercarriage. The knee levers look like the cast pot metal ones used by the Super Pro era guitars. The rest of the undercarriage probably has pot metal (cast) parts. I am not an expert on Bud's. but have owned 2 and always had an interest in the changes through the years. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . There were numerous changes within the ProII and ProIII models over the years...way too many to note here....and Sho-Bud seemed to build every possible combination of hybrids they could dream up.
The blonde PIII pictured above is a perfect example. When SB switched to the shorter body/no gumby series, the ProII and the ProIII had different size bodies...at least, most of them did.
The ProII body endplate was almost flush up against where the changer surround ended, while the ProIII still had about a half inch or so of body before the end plate.
The ProIII pictured above has the end of the neck flush up against the end plate, like the ProII's of that era.
Any and all combos are out there, just waiting to be found...
Nice gtr, btw. |
