A little inspiration .....

John Cruz at Fender's Custom Shop built this limited edition Tele inspired by vintage Chris-Craft speedboats. Too cool! I could easily see this as a lap steel.

I love the styling of all the old Chris-Craft's, but the Cobra in particular has always caught my attention ... got to love a boat with a tail fin Smile

I can definitely see some fun Chris-Craft elements that could be brought in for a cool custom build.

Tom, that is a spectacular boat! It looks super fast just sitting there.

The boat will always be awesome.
I'd say the CC Tele is a prime example of some things that should never have been done, but it'll no doubt get an equally hideous price paid.

Andy - You've started a Builder's Trend for the Positive --

I am thinking of adding some shiny metal Horns to add High's to the Captain's Model !

I picture a Bigsby vibrato arm with a rudder attached. When you swing the Bigsby right, the rudder moves left.

And Ron, if you don't dig the classy CC design of the above guitar I bet it's looking pretty subtle next to this one?

A friend and neighbor of mine, back in my high school days, father was a gear head and car collector. He had a CC speedboat, that he switched engines in. I don't know how he did it. But,,, Chrysler Hemi! Very fast water ski boat!

We can hijack and salvage this thread from the ridiculous to the sublime with more killer boats, and here's the speedboat of all time, best of them all;

While my friends caretook that beauty long ago, this is what had my fulltime attention, my home in the 70's for the 5 years she ran in Hawaii.

Built for the Borden's, they took her out for trials and said, no, build us another one. It was one of the first successful bondings of steel and iron at the hull.
This was a rare success story when some mega-rich Italian recently spent gillions restoring her to full glory.

I haven't tried a Chris-Craft motif, but one lap steel that I built was mahogany, and I used Chris Craft stain on the finish ! Very Happy
I have a 26 foot mahogany cabin cruiser, so the stain was handy Smile
