I got this cassette just recently from the Forum (Reece's "STEEL Playin Texas Swing") and want to say how much I enjoy it.
Played on a 12 string lap steel with sweet, sweet tone, excellent playing, nice accompaniment, fine arrangements, some nice twin work, swinging improv lines, good choice of songs. Overall just fine music, very pleasurable. I've already started to wear down the tape.
Nice job Reece! Thanks again.
And if you should read this post, I'd really like to know which way you tune - equal temperament I'm guessing, since you play with piano and often with horns, but I don't know for sure (whichever way, it sounds beautiful). Also, for that particular cassette, which amp?
Your Steel With Brass is also a favorite.
Thanks, Bob |

I agree about that the Texas Swing album!! Tone, intonation, speed, finesse. It's all there!! There's a tune on the 2nd side where Reece finishes a phrase on two strings, sounds like a descending line on one string and ascending on the other. I don't know if anyone else does that regularly, but it blew my mind. |
