Listening to Chuck Campbell on the radio last night I noticed that he makes a lot of use of the Ebow. The Ebow website says that they sound best if the treble is turned down. My question is, as somebody with no tone control on my guitar (none that I've noticed, anyways...), would getting an Ebow be worth it, or would it be impossible to use?

-Travis

Afterthought: I suppose I could use an EQ pedal or something to cut the treble when required... Hmm...

The best way to manage the treble would be a Goodrich 7A in the chain..... www.genejones.com

Actually you can control the tone nicely by positioning the Ebow farther way from the bridge(changer on a pedal steel)

If you want to hear some great steel-E-bow playing, check out the song "Once Upon A Time In The West" from the Buddy Emmons live at the convention CD and Maurice Anderson's wonderful "Universal Direction" album.

This album of Gospel music is absolutely lovely (and this is coming from somebody from whom the religious nature of the recording is lost), but Reece's work with the E-bow on the tunes "Life Is Nothing (Until You've Met The Lord)" and "whatever It Takes" is simply exquisite. There is no other word to describe it.

I use an E-Bow a lot, and I've never felt the need to touch the tone controls when I use it. Mine's the original model, though. Maybe they've made some changes.

I'm moving this topic to the "Electronics" section of the Forum.
